A Foldable, Cardboard Desk Gives Children In Need A Comfortable Place To Study
By Kylie Woon, 07 Jul 2017
When product design student HaYoung lee visited India, he witnessed many children squatting on roads and in narrow public staircases.
“They seemed to be studying or doing some schoolwork,” he said, realizing that these children likely did not have access to proper studying environments.
A student himself at the Hong Ik University in South Korea, HaYoung decided to respond to this issue by creating a light, portable letter desk that a child could potentially carry around and work with.
He designed a little desk that he hoped would potentially aid children who do not have a place to study.
His letter desk is made of cardboard and can be folded up, so that children can bring it anywhere. It is also lightweight and portable. “I used corrugated cardboard…to make it light for the kids,” says HaYoung. “It has a strong structure so two adults can stand up on this desk.”
Every child should have adequate studying space. Take a look at HaYoung’s design below.
