The New York Times reported that Apple’s upcoming bezel-free iPhone will have a starting price of about US$999, according to people who were briefed on the smartphone. They chose to stay anonymous due to restrictions against speaking of the product.
The jump is a rather significant one, seeing that the iPhone 7 is priced at US$649 and the iPhone 7 Plus at US$769. Hopefully Apple, which celebrates the iPhone’s 10th anniversary this year, will be able to justify the premium price point.
Samsung openly dissed the iPhone 8’s rumored specifications at its recent Galaxy Note 8 launch, boasting superiority over and above its greater affordability at US$725.
Apple is expected to launch several iPhones in an event next month, including a version that looks similar to the iPhone 7.
