Fashion house Balenciaga has just debuted its new logo on social media—and netizens are amused.
Unveiled across a mid-gray background, the new logo—featuring a bolder font and narrower letter-spacing—instantly reminded Twitter users of tech giant Samsung and streetwear brand Vetements, sparking questions as to whether the brand is straying too far from its high fashion roots.
Other netizens simply felt the redesign was underwhelming, as not much was done besides a change in font. “I’d love to know how much that redesign cost,” tweeted one amused individual. “Really went all in on this one,” joked another.
Others teased that the new font must be from Microsoft Paint or DaFont, a popular website for free font downloads.
Love it or hate it, the redesign is certain proof of the growing power and influence streetwear is gaining over the worlds of couture and high fashion. What do you think of the new logo? Read some responses below.
