The Swedish flat-pack giant has introduced a vending machine at a subway station in Stockholm.
There are no snacks in sight. Rather, the machine—which stands in Hötorget station—is stocked with kitchen gadgets like garlic presses and egg slicers.
“We want to show in a playful way that IKEA is available wherever [our customers are], not only in our department stores,” IKEA Sweden deputy country sales director Miki Tabakovic explains to Market.se.
The vending machine is essentially an ad to direct passers-by to a nearby kitchen pop-up store, which impressively houses seven kitchen sets “for different life situations.” The campaign encourages its customers to “get a kitchen to go with their garlic press.”
