McDonald’s Debuts Smartphone Lockers So People Will Actually Talk To One Another
By Yoon Sann Wong, 17 Oct 2017
McDonald’s Singapore has introduced smartphone lockers at one of its outlets, in a bid to get people to put away their gadgets and socialize in real life.
The 100-locker structure, found at Marine Cove, is part of the brand’s ‘Phone Off, Fun On’ campaign, which is mainly targeted at families. Another initiative under the campaign encourages patrons to put away their smartphone at a designated corner of the table.
Mashable reported that according to a survey conducted by McDonald’s Singapore, of the 302 parents surveyed, 72 percent of children and 69 percent of parents used their smartphones during mealtimes.
