Netizens Slams Dior For Choosing Cara Delevingne To Front Its Anti-Aging Line
By Izza Sofia, 07 Nov 2017
Dior is launching a new anti-aging skincare line called Capture Youth, targeting a 30-something audience.
The LVMH-owned brand decided to tap 25-year-old model Cara Delevingne as the face of the campaign. Although it is a bit shocking to see a youthful model fronting an anti-wrinkle product range, the line is reportedly aimed at delaying the first signs of aging.
However, angry customers of the label have hit back at the “unfair” ads and called for a more age-appropriate model to showcase the collection. A user tweeted, “Beautiful Cara is 25. I’m 51 and I’m your target audience for Capture. It’s a wrinkle cream. This is unfair to her and to me #thatsnotme.”
Another user also blasted Dior, saying, “As a 51-year-old I find the use of a 25-year-old model to be slightly insensitive. Are we hopeless after 26? I’ll have to re-evaluate Dior.”
Fans were seen using the hashtag #thatsnotme to express disapproval on Dior’s Instagram page.
A Dior spokesman said, “The House of Dior is immensely proud that a woman of Cara Delevingne’s beauty and achievement has agreed to be the face of its new skincare line Capture Youth, a scientifically proven mix and match active age delay regime aimed at women in their thirties.”
“Inspired by predictive medicine, Capture Youth helps to delay the signs of future ageing before they appear. As a young, modern woman, Cara Delevingne perfectly embodies the spirit of Capture Youth.”
