The iPad might be undergoing a redesign to resemble iPhone X.
In efforts to create a new high-end tablet, Apple is reportedly abandoning iPad’s home button, enabling it with facial recognition capabilities to power Face ID. The device will also feature slimmer edges
According to Bloomberg, there will be at least one new iPad in next year’s rollout to have a screen size similar to the 10.5-inch iPad Pro.
Unlike the iPhone X, it’s improbable that the top-tier iPad will have an OLED display built in due to “technical and financial constraints.”
The removal of the home button and slimming of bezels would give the iPad a larger screen without having to enlarge the entire device. Bloomberg did not mention if the 2018 iPad’s design would sport a notch.
The redesigned iPad is expected to be launched “as early as 2018.”
