ELLE France Accused Of Editing Out Meghan Markle’s Signature Feature
By Izza Sofia, 04 Dec 2017
Elle France is in hot water after readers accused the magazine of photoshopping out one of Meghan Markle’s signature facial features.
The December cover shows Markle wearing a denim shirt and a gorgeous full skirt with her hair pulled back. Her makeup is fairly minimal, but if you look closely, you’ll notice that her trademark freckles are gone.
This is especially striking when contrasted with her Vanity Fair cover and photos, which put her gorgeous freckles on full display. During the Vanity Fair shoot, she worked with photographer Peter Lindburgh, and said, “I am so excited to work with you because I know we will finally be able to see my freckles!”
Markle explained that having her freckles airbrushed out of photos is quite annoying. “To this day, my pet peeve is when my skin tone is changed and my freckles are airbrushed out of a photo shoot.” She added, “For all my freckle-faced friends out there, I will share with you something my dad told me when I was younger: ‘A face without freckles is a night without stars.’”
In Vanity Fair's October cover story, @MeghanMarkle opens up about living in the spotlight, starring on @Suits_USA, and her whirlwind royal romance: "I think it’s really simple. We're two people who are really happy and in love." Photograph by @therealpeterlindbergh.
