Last night, The Greatest Showman’s lead actor Hugh Jackman lost the Golden Globe for ‘Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy’ to The Disaster Artist’s James Franco, for his portrayal of The Room’s Tommy Wiseau.
Franco beat other contenders Steve Carrell from Battle of the Sexes, Ansel Elgort of Baby Driver, and Daniel Kaluuya from Get Out for the win.
It’s unknown whether Jackman’s reaction was intentional or not, but his expression sure says it all. Even though the camera had panned onto the famous actor for a few seconds, it was enough for the internet to take notice.

This, however, was not the only highlight from the win. When Wiseau joined Franco onstage, the latter denied Wiseau a chance at the mic.
Instead, Franco opened his acceptance speech by quoting Wiseau’s thoughts about the event, saying, “Golden Globes, so what? I’m not invited. I know they don’t want me, guy with accent, long hair. So I show them. I don’t wait for Hollywood, I make my own movie.”
Wiseau told the Los Angeles Times that had he been allowed to deliver his message, it would’ve been, “If a lot of people loved each other, the world would be a better place to live. See ‘The Room,’ have fun, and enjoy life. The American Dream is alive, and it’s real.”
Now you can probably understand why Jackman’s facial expression turned out the way it did.

These Hugh Jackson reaction shots during James Franco's speech are amazing. He literally cannot BELIEVE he didn't win this award. He's like, "But... did they know that I wore a top hat?" pic.twitter.com/uwQtTGN1OL— R. Eric Thomas (@oureric) January 8, 2018
Hugh Jackman didn’t work on The Greatest Showman for more than 7 years just to be insulted NOT UNDER MY WATCH #GoldenGlobes— Chris (@hollandeggsy) January 8, 2018
The fact that the Greatest Showman didn’t win best comedy/musical after Hugh Jackman spent 7 years making this movie and after Zendaya and Zac Efron literally threw themselves in the air for majority of their scenes! #goldenglobes2018 what are you doing! pic.twitter.com/enwJvdS7Vw— Mari (@zaylorswifron) January 8, 2018
HUGH JACKMAN WORKED ON THAT MOVIE FOR 7. YEARS. IT WAS HIS PASSION PROJECT. HE PUT EVERY OUNCE OF HIS HEART AND SOUL INTO THAT MOVIE AND HE DESERVED A GOLDEN GLOBE pic.twitter.com/mQ5ftYkCfu— kendall ❄️ 17 (@bwaykendall) January 8, 2018
