2018 marks 120 years of Pepsi’s rich history, and come February, diehard fans will be in for a treat as the company kicks off its ‘Pepsi Generations’ campaign.
In celebrating its golden years, PepsiCo will be bringing back its iconic retro cans. Starting 29 January 2018, Pepsi drinkers from 55 countries will be able to enjoy a series of limited-edition packaging on products comprising Pepsi, Pepsi Zero Sugar and Diet Pepsi.
“Since our brand was founded more than a century ago, Pepsi has stood for a youthful spirit and the choice of a new generation,” said Chad Stubbs, Vice President of Marketing at Pepsi Trademark in North America.
“2018 will be a year to celebrate the past while embracing the future; always reminding consumers to do what they love and have a little fun in their lives.”
Additionally, a throwback commercial featuring Cindy Crawford—who starred in the brand’s famous 1992 Super Bowl advertisement—will air during this year’s Super Bowl Lll in February.
The spot titled This is the Pepsi is a re-enactment of the 26-year-old commercial. This time, Crawford will be accompanied by her son, Presley Gerber.
In a press statement, Crawford said, “To this day, people come up to me to talk about how much they loved my original Pepsi spot from '92.”
“The commercial was a big moment for me and has spanned generations. I am proud to play a role in this iconic pop-culture phenomenon and excited for fans to see our new take on the Pepsi spot during Super Bowl.”
