‘Package Free’ Brand Is An Exemplar Of Smart Design That The World Needs More Of

If there’s one crusade that would certainly pay off to take off, it’s the green movement.
A positive wave of eco-friendly, design-related news has put a bright spark to the start of 2018, what with the “world’s first” plastic-free straw that’s not only biodegradable but also edible, McDonald’s packaging changes that could greatly influence its industry, and Nike’s decision to source 100 percent renewable energy across its facilities in North America.
If cutting down on producing harmful waste is already a challenge to some, going wholly zero-waste might seem like an impossible task, especially for those living a hectic city life. NYC-based Lauren Singer, however, wants to help you understand and realize that this is definitely achievable.
Singer walks the talk, considering this blogger behind ‘Trash is for Tossers’ managed to not only reduce the waste that she’s produced over the last five years, but also fit it into a 16-oz mason jar.
You read that right, 16-oz.
Since then, Singer has helped popularize the ‘Zero Waste Movement’ and established Package Free, an eco-friendly shop in New York City that offers “everything that individuals need to transition to a low-waste lifestyle.”
In this video interview with Mashable, Singer introduces you to Package Free and its offerings, which includes shampoo bars, plastic-free straws that come with convenient cleaning aids, and ‘Juniperseed Unpaper Towels’, as well as The Simply Co.—another brand she founded that specializes in organic, vegan laundry detergent.
