The word ‘IKEA’ brings up a concoction of memories that are unique to everyone: the first time they attempted to set up a chair, their first furniture hack, or that one time the entire family agreed to disagree over the use of an instruction manual—but most customers can agree on one thing: ‘IKEA’ evokes feelings of homeliness.
IKEA Japan has released a line of limited edition desserts that might finally let shoppers know what home, sweet, home tastes like.
The highlight of the menu is the ‘Love on Sofa’ parfait, which was designed by dessert inventor Keno Kono. Sitting in an IKEA 365+ glass are a tart raspberry mousse, a blueberry jam layer, a decadent brownie slice, and a meringue ‘sofa’.
The dessert is priced at JP¥500 (US$4.60) and you can you can even keep the glass after you polish yours.
The company says the item was selected out of 400 submissions, so you’ll know this one will truly hit home. Further, a portion of the sales from this treat will be donated to aid children in need in Ghana.
Other additions include a triple berry soufflé, an ‘Amore’ Mont Blanc, a chocolate soufflé roll slice, a ‘Very Berry’ cheesecake, and a quark cheese mousse.
The desserts will be available at IKEA restaurants across Japan, except for the IKEA Touchpoint location in Kumamoto, from 8 February to 14 March 2018.
