Starbucks Japan Debuts Massive ‘Sakura’-Themed Series Including Pink Beverages
By Yoon Sann Wong, 09 Feb 2018
If you thought that Starbucks Japan’s ‘Sakura Milk with Mixed Berries’ was the only cherry blossom-themed entry that the coffee chain had in store for the season, get ready for much, much more.
The brand has announced an extensive ‘Sakura’-themed collection that not only includes pink-colored beverages, but also two capsule series comprising drinkware, stationery, and more, as well as a unique ‘Spring Season Blend’.
‘Sakura’ drink series
Its ‘Sakura’ drink series consists ‘Sakura Strawberry Pink Flavoring Frappuccino®’, ‘Sakura Strawberry Pink Milk Latte’, and ‘Sakura Strawberry Pink Tea’. The range will be available from 15 February to 14 March 2018 across majority Starbucks stores in Japan.
‘Sakura Strawberry Pink Flavoring Frappuccino®’ features a ‘Sakura’ sauce with a mochi-like texture. ‘Sakura Strawberry Pink Milk Latte’ fuses cherry and fruity strawberry, with finely chopped Sakura leaves and sake lees for a surprising taste. ‘Sakura Strawberry Pink Tea’ is a refreshing sweet and sour tea beverage that uses TEAVANA ™ chamomile tea. Cherry-strawberry sauce and freeze-dried strawberries are added inside.
In addition to these three beverages comes Starbuck’s merchandise via its ‘Looking Back’ and ‘Looking Forward’ collections.
‘Looking Back’ and ‘Looking Forward’ collections
‘Looking Back’ will launch on 15 February across most Starbucks stores across Japan. It features retro prints, lace, cut pictures and soap bubble graphics.
‘Looking Forward’ debuts on 28 February, in majority Starbucks stores across Japan. It features colorful cherry blossoms, modern graphics, and petals vividly displayed against white backdrops.

‘Spring Season Blend’
Last but not least, is Starbucks’ ‘Spring Season Blend’ with cherry blossom-themed packaging for sale in Asia Pacific from 15 February. Its flavor is reminiscent of dark cherries and herbs, with a spicy and firm richness. It blends four types of coffee—Colombia, Sandrade Ethiopia, Ajed Sumatra and Papua New Guinea.
