Have you ever wished you could know in advance if the object of your affections was your one true soul mate? The idea of being told exactly when a relationship will end can both be tempting and daunting, as Black Mirror’s new app shows.
Teasing its latest episode ‘Hang the DJ’, the Netflix original has created a new website, ‘www.coach.dating’, that claims to be able to calculate the life spans of relationships.
A version of the site appears in the episode, which explores a modern-day dating app that uses a complex algorithm called ‘The System’. Through the virtual “coach,” singles will be able to learn if a potential relationship is meant to be or doomed from the start.
The real-life app generates a unique link for you and your partner, where you’ll be asked to click on a button to find out your “relationship expectancy.”
If the both of you share the same wavelength, you’ll apparently click on the button at the same moment. The tool will then look like it’s gone berserk as it measures your reaction time before generating your relationship’s expiry date. Try ‘www.coach.dating’ for yourself.
