Say pasta la vista to spaghetti for now—McDonald’s has debuted a Bolognese French fry sauce that’s so meaty, you seriously won’t miss the carb it’s replaced.
For a limited time, patrons at McDonald’s Japan restaurants get to enjoy the ‘Try [and] Pour Some Cheese Bolognese’ menu item, which is a serving of its golden fries with a heaping scoop of hearty Italian-inspired sauce and melted cheese.
According to the website, McDonald’s marries minced beef and pork, rich white cheddar, fragrant caramelized onions, and tart tomatoes, to create the sauce, before finishing it with black pepper and garlic to bring out the flavors of the ingredients.
An a la carte serving of these moreish fries will set you back JP¥390 (US$3.70), whereas a combo—which comes with a drink—is priced at JP¥490 (US$4.60).
Mamma mia. The addition, however, will only be available in McDonald’s locations throughout Japan from 28 February to late March 2018.
