MTV Inverts Its Logo In Celebration Of International Women’s Day

If you are watching MTV, you might have noticed something a little different with the network recently.
For International Women’s Day (IWD) on 8 March, MTV has decided to tweak its logo, by inverting the letter “M” such that it becomes a “W.” The network will also stream all-female music videos on MTV Classic, MTV Live, MTVU and feature an all-female-cast for Nick Cannon: Wild ‘N’ Out.
MTV has also launched its ‘#SoundOn’ online campaign. The Viacom-owned network aims to champion female’s voices within its company. The campaign has also included prominent entertainment figures like P!nk, Rita Ora and Emma Watson.
Amy Doyle, general manager of MTV, hopes that this empowering movement will highlight the role of women in society.
MTV isn’t the only brand that’s modified its logo especially for IWD. McDonald’s celebrates with its inverted Golden Arches, while Mattel’s launched one of its most inspiring and energizing lineups yet with 17 powerful female role models as Barbie® dolls.
