Instagram’s Latest ‘Focus’ Feature Introduces Bokeh To Your Portrait Photos
By Izza Sofia, 11 Apr 2018
Instagram has launched its own ‘Portrait Mode’ feature called ‘Focus’.
The ‘Focus’ mode works the same way as the ‘Portrait Mode’ found in smartphones. The new function is located under the record button, next to ‘Superzoom’. It creates the bokeh aesthetic, where the subject is kept sharp and in-focus, while the background of the image is blurred.
Users can tap on the button to take a photo, or hold it if they wish to record a video. They can also add stickers, filters, and other creative tools before sharing it with their friends.
Instagram is also adding a new way to mention other users in iOS. After snapping a photo, click on the ‘@mention’ sticker in the ‘Stickers Tray’ and select the user you wish to acknowledge.
‘Focus’ is now available for iPhone SE, 6S and 6S+, 7 and 7+, 8 and 8+, X, as well as select Android devices.
