Facebook Launches New Ad To Remind Users Of The Good Ol’ Days Without Fake News
By Izza Sofia, 30 Apr 2018

In an attempt to win back the trust of its users after the Cambridge Analytica scandal, Facebook has rolled out one of its largest advertising pushes.
The platform’s initial mission of bringing people together took a sharp turn after a flood of fake news, clickbait headlines and spammed comments by Russian trolls. The social media giant is now taking steps to return to its former glory.
Its new campaign, titled ‘Here Together’, aims to pacify infuriated users by tugging at their heartstrings. The video kicks off by showing heartfelt moments that have been shared on Facebook.
“Then something happened,” a sincere voiceover admits. “We had to deal with spam, clickbait, fake news and data misuse.” The voiceover highlights the wonderful moments, then admits where it went wrong and plans to take the different steps to make amends.
“Facebook will do more to keep you safe and protect your privacy,” the voiceover continues, though it does not state how exactly it will do that.
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has apologized for the data scandal that exposed 87 million profiles which was shared with Cambridge Analytica.
