On 6 May 1998, Apple announced the iMac—its innovative all-in-one computer that fused its motherboard and CD-ROM drive within a 15-inch CRT display and egg-shaped housing.
The model, which was a radical change from the traditional desktop and external monitor, permanently altered the industry and how people looked at computers.
In honor of its 20th anniversary, Apple’s CEO Tim Cook posted a tweet commemorating the occasion and launch. Joining him are other netizens who look back on the unveiling, expressing their appreciation for the smart design as well as clever marketing.

It was 20 years ago today, Apple announced the original iMac. A computer from another planet;a planet with good designer. What I also like about it is, despite its legacy-free design, it sported 2 headphone jacks. they show the designer had some vision about how iMac wd be used. pic.twitter.com/UTU7vsG1D7— Nobi Hayashi 林信行 (@nobi) May 6, 2018
