Watch: Digital Artist Creates Virtual Social Media ‘Influencer’ In 48 Hours

Humans aren’t the only ones flooding your social media feeds. Hyperrealistic virtual avatars have made their way to phone screens, and one such idol, ‘Lil Miquela’, already has over 1.1 million Instagram followers.
Intrigued by how lucrative the digital personality industry is, The Cut enlisted its in-office motion graphics artist, Preston Jessee—who had no experience with character design until then—to recreate its own computer-generated “influencer,” with ‘Lil Miquela’ as his reference.
After experimenting around with Cinema 4D, Jessee successfully fashioned his own social media personality.
