IKEA’s Iconic Blue Bag Receives A Colorful Makeover With Playful Patterns
By Izza Sofia, 13 Jun 2018
IKEA’s iconic blue bag is getting a playful new look.
The Swedish furniture giant is teaming up with Sarah Andelman—founder and former creative director of fashion store Colette—as well as illustrative blogger Craig Redman for an adorable collection that flaunts a splash of colors.
The ‘FÖRNYAD’ collection is designed for young consumers and features notebooks, stationery, desks, stools, bins, and rugs. The collection fuses IKEA’s iconic blue hue and Colette’s signature dots with Redman’s egg-shaped black eye.
IKEA’s creative leader Henrik Most explained about their new pattern called ‘Tuileries’, which celebrates the Parisian park. “[W]e’ve mixed graphics of park life with the colette blue dots and Darcel iconography.”
Since ‘FÖRNYAD’ means “renewed” in English, the collection also sees some products reimagined, including the ‘LACK’ table, ‘KLIPPAN’ sofa, as well as the ‘FRAKTA’ bag. The full collection will be available starting 2019.
