Liverpool’s ‘Ribena’-Colored Kit Gets Humorous Pop Culture References By Fans
By Yoon Sann Wong, 13 Jun 2018
Liverpool has unveiled its fresh away kit for the 2018/19 season that has fans giving it multiple, amusing pop culture references, most notably Ribena. Unlike its traditional red home kit, this away version comes in “a deep violet shade.”
“The kit adopts the same jacquard linear graphic as on the front of next term’s home shirt, which takes inspiration from the architecture of Anfield’s Main Stand,” explains the club inside a press release. “It is also accentuated by orange branding that highlights key details throughout the strip, in a nod to last season’s hugely successful New Balance third kit.”
The goalkeeper’s bright green away shirt has been designed to complement the outfield players’ jerseys. It has black, patterned sleeves, as well as embroidered logo and crest.
Since the debut, fans on Twitter have taken it upon themselves to find all possible sources of inspiration behind the wearable ‘Ribena’ pastels, including Teletubbies, Liverpool’s very own wheelie bins, the packaging design of Cadbury’s ‘Dairy Milk’, and more.
You can purchase the kit from Liverpool FC’s official online store.
