D&AD’s Free Design Classes For Untrained Creatives Might Just Change Your Life
By Yoon Sann Wong, 14 Jun 2018
D&AD New Blood Shift is on the lookout for its next generation of creative talents to nurture.
This intensive night school programme, held two evenings per week, grooms creatives who have no formal arts education across 12 weeks of free classes.
“Shift compels its students to make the best creative work of their life. This is accomplished through workshops, talks by those at the top of their game and real client briefs that show young minds how to apply their abilities and craft, and find paid opportunities and a route into a new career,” reads its website.
Applications for its 2018 London programme is now open to anyone who’s over 18 years old, does not hold a degree level qualification and is not currently enrolled in one.
For those keen on the opportunity, Shift wants “to see up to three examples of the sort of creative work that you already do. This might be design, a campaign concept, a piece of artwork, a video, some photographs, lyrics, a story...it’s up to you what you share with us. Learn how to use your creative abilities in a career in advertising and design.”
The deadline for D&AD New Blood Shift London closes on 1 August. The programme will run from September to January.
Since its launch in 2016, Shift has nurtured 49 participants who have gone on to work for names such as BBC Creative, Iris, Havas, AKQA, and Design Bridge.
