H&M Collaborates With Iconic British Brand For Bold & Colorful Print Collection
By Izza Sofia, 10 Jul 2018
Clothing retailer H&M will be collaborating with British textile house GP & J Baker in its upcoming collection.
The iconic British company was founded in 1884 by George Percival and James Baker, and apart from being a British wallpaper company, GP & J Baker is also a holder of The Queen’s Royal Warrant since 1982.
GP & J Baker’s managing director and creative director Ann Grafton said that the company is “thrilled and honored” to be working together with H&M on an upcoming collection.
Grafton added that the prints chosen for the collection are some of the iconic ones produced by the company, and seeing them produced in a new and innovative world of fashion “is a wonderful prospect.”
Some of the prints include ‘Magnolia’, which William Turner created for GP & J Baker, the ‘Oriental Bird’, ‘Blossom’ and ‘Hydrangea Bird’ that comes mixed with bold geometric patterns such as ‘Fretwork’, to pay homage to Art Deco designer Jean Durand. Expect to see these prints on a wide range of garments from puff shoulder blouses to trousers and accessories.
H&M’s design director Pernilla Wohlfahrt described the pieces in the collection as “feminine and strong” and it will appeal to those who are big fans of print design and fashion. The collection will be available on the website and in-stores starting 2 August.
