Zara is tweaking the way it enables customers to shop from the brand.
The fashion company has introduced a new service that lets its brick-and-mortars ship an apparel that is out-of-stock online but available in its stores. The move would certainly increase your chances of getting hold of a popular sweater that has sold out online.
If an item goes out-of-stock in Zara’s warehouses, but is still in stock at one of its physical stores, the apparel will be shipped right to your doorstep.
The Wall Street Journal reported that 2,000 stores located in 48 countries will partake in Zara’s ship-from-store option, including the US.
The CEO of Inditex, which is Zara’s parent company, said that this new change is “very, very strategic” for the fashion brand. It added that it is a sustainable business model because customers would be able to search for an item more hassle-free, even when the item might be sold out online.
If more people can get their hands on what they want, overstocking is less likely to happen and textile waste would decrease.
