RED Releases First Official Images Of Its Holographic ‘Hydrogen One’ Smartphone
By Yoon Sann Wong, 27 Aug 2018
RED founder Jim Jannard has shared the first official images of RED’s holographic smartphone to tide interested tech enthusiasts over while the world awaits its launch.
It was originally scheduled to debut this August, but certification complications pushed this back to 2 November, with pre-orders opening on 9 October.
RED’s ‘Hydrogen One’ features an 8K 3D prosumer camera and holographic display that is said to be “better than 3D,” as it does not require any special glasses for viewing.
The phone will come with a 5.7-inch QHD screen, Snapdragon 835 chip, 4,500 mAh battery, USB ‘Type-C’ port and headphone jack.
It will be available in two colors— ‘black’ and ‘shadow’—through AT&T, Verizon and Telcel at US$1,295 for the aluminum model. The titanium version, anticipated to retail at US$1,595, will roll out in 2019.
