Serena Williams Wins Her First 2018 US Open Match In Tutu By Nike & Off-White
By Izza Sofia, 29 Aug 2018
Tennis star Serena Williams has returned in style to the US Open after missing last year’s event due to her pregnancy.
Her fashionable entrance follows the athlete’s collaboration with Off-White’s Virgil Abloh to create her ‘Queen’ collection for Nike.
The star was dressed in full Off-White x Nike ensemble when she went up against Poland’s Magda Linette to eventually secure a victory.
Williams was seen in a ballerina-inspired tutu dress, which she paired with sparkling silver sneakers.
Abloh had previously described Williams as one of the most powerful and inspiring athletes of the current generation, and added that he tried “to embody her spirit” to create something fresh in the tennis realm.
Abloh took to Instagram to share his excitement over her outfit during the US Open with the words, “[W]illing to design dresses for her for life.”
French Tennis Federation: We will police #Serena ‘s clothing & ban her “inappropriate” catsuit.@serenawilliams : OK. I’ll just have to dominate the court in my black tutu, then. pic.twitter.com/wLiOSSXMAC— Nancy Santiago Negron (@nancysnegron) August 29, 2018
