Kanye West is a man of many things: he’s a renowned rapper, husband to reality star Kim Kardashian, a boundary-defying fashion icon, a presidential hopeful, and soon… a college professor?
On Sunday, West announced on Twitter that he was going to teach at “the Art Institute of Chicago and the American Academy of Art,” thereby spurring young fans to pursue art degrees in the Chicago institutes.
Unfortunately for those set on going down the creative route, one of the academies, the Art Institute of Chicago, has denied West’s claims.
Bree Witt, director of communications at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), confirmed with BuzzFeed News that while the institute is “flattered” about West’s interest in nurturing budding creatives, “Mr West is not currently teaching at SAIC… there are no [present] plans for him to do so.”
There’s still hope, though. The American Academy of Art has not responded to the remarks, so there’s still a possibility of you having bragging rights about having Professor West as your mentor.
