Amid Backlash, Kaepernick Releases ‘I’m With Kap’ Jerseys, Instantly Sells Out
By Izza Sofia, 12 Sep 2018
Former NFL player Colin Kaepernick, who recently made headlines for fronting Nike’s 30th anniversary ‘Just Do It’ campaign, has released football jerseys for sale.
Kaepernick filed a clothing trademark for the phrase, “I’m with Kap” late last month. Now, he has begun selling black football jerseys emblazoned with the words “#ImWithKap” and the number “7.”
The jersey, which retails at US$175 per piece on Kaepernick’s website, sold out as soon as it went live.
20 percent of the proceeds from the sales will go to Kaepernick’s Know Your Rights Camp—a campaign he founded to raise awareness on dealing with law enforcement and self-empowerment.
