Adobe Product Manager’s ‘Dogecoin’, Created As A Joke, Now Worth Millions
By Yoon Sann Wong, 13 Sep 2018
Five years after launching ‘Dogecoin’ as a gag, creator Jackson Palmer, who currently works as Group Product Manager, Creative Cloud Engagement Platform at Adobe, continues to convey the ridiculousness of it all.
The cryptocurrency has already surpassed former high-flyer Bitcoin to become one of the stronger digital tokens available. It currently boasts a US$740 million market cap and regular daily trading capacity worth millions of dollars.
The quizzical-looking Shiba Inu of ‘Doge’ meme fame inspired its amusing name and logo, which was designed by Christine Ricks.
At present, ‘Dogecoin’ stands as the 17th-largest cryptocurrency based on market value, though Palmer seems to remain largely unimpressed by this feat.
