Diet Coke Gets Splashy Makeover With Pink Cans Released In Limited Quantities
By Izza Sofia, 18 Sep 2018
In line with Breast Cancer Awareness month, Coca-Cola will be releasing limited edition pink cans of Diet Coke to the public.
Together with supermarket company ASDA’s ‘Tickled Pink’ movement, the soft drink company has hidden ten limited edition pink cans across special ‘Tickled Pink’ 30 x 330ml Diet Coke packs.
Coke fans will have a chance to get their hands on the ‘Pink Diet Coke Can’ between 17 September 2018 and 30 October 2018 at select ASDA stores and online.
The ‘Tickled Pink’ campaign aims to fund research on breast cancer and offers support to those affected by the illness. Money raised from the campaign will be donated to two breast cancer charities: Breast Cancer Now and Breast Cancer Care.
Those who manage to uncover the pink cans will stand a chance to win £1,000 (US$1,315), though only one lucky consumer will ultimately be awarded the grand prize.
On top of the pink cans, a limited edition tote bag with the words, “I Am, You Are, We Are Tickled Pink,” designed by television presenter and Diet Coke’s brand ambassador Holly Willoughby, will be available to purchase in select ASDA stores from 7 September. You are entitled to a free tote if you purchase a Diet Coke 4 x 250ml glass pack.
Willoughby said, “With one woman diagnosed with breast cancer every eight minutes in the UK, I’m honoured to be supporting such a great and worthy cause.”
“As part of my support, I have designed a tote bag that includes the words ‘I Am, You Are, We Are Tickled Pink’ because ultimately, we are all in this together and I hope those who pick up a pack of Diet Coke and receive the tote bag enjoy using it to show your support as well,” she added.
Marketing director for Coca-Cola GB and Ireland Aedamar Howlett said that the company is pleased to support the ‘Tickled Pink’ campaign this year. The company is grateful to receive support from Willoughby to spread awareness about breast cancer.
