After the bewildering twist in Infinity War, you can trust that the Russo Brothers would have more curveballs up their sleeves. Way ahead of the next film’s release, they’ve already thrown one.
On Wednesday, the Avengers directors posted a black-and-white photo of Joe Russo looking at his laptop in a studio.
It’s an artsy, well-composited image that employs the famous rule-of-thirds technique, and anyone on Instagram would scroll right past it thinking it’s just another great aesthetic if they hadn’t seen its caption: “Look hard…”
Eagle-eyed fans did as they were instructed and searched for clues that might reveal a bit more about the elusive Avengers 4.
Many found typographic cues in the picture, such as the letter ‘A’ dotted on the wall, as well as the ladder and easel shaped like the same alphabet. Some even spotted an ‘E’ on the right. Could the hidden characters spell out the initials of the sequel’s yet-to-be-announced name, which theorists speculate to be, ‘Endgame’?
Considering the anti-climatic Infinity War ending, the photo could really be about anything, so social media users got creative and thought out of the box.
Twitter user ‘biohazard444’, for instance, uncovered a silhouette of ‘Homer Simpson’ and suggested that the donut-loving character might have been “confirmed” to appear in Avengers 4.
Of course, the image could just be a troll that might not offer a single ounce of closure. You’ll just have to place your trust in Tom Holland to blurt out another spoiler before the film supposedly hits theaters on 3 May 2019.
