On 26 September, former US President Barack Obama visited Oslo to attend the Oslo Business Forum.
During his onstage interview, Obama sat on an IKEA ‘LANDSKRONA’ chair while speaking about the future of technology advancements and sustainable businesses.
The union inspired creative agency SMFB Oslo to get witty about IKEA’s marketing, and took to placing the chair together with other used furniture back at the ‘As-Is’ section in a local IKEA.
The chair was attached with a humorous tag explaining its condition. “This chair has been used - by Barack Obama when he visited Oslo the 26th of September. Naturally we can’t sell it at full price anymore. ‘LANDSKRONA’ chair has a warm and welcoming look, with a clean and classy expression. Kind of like the president himself. All in all, a great buy.”
The chair was eventually bought by an elementary school teacher who was looking to add another reading space to the library.
