Chris Evans’ Emotional Goodbye To ‘Captain America’ Leaves The Internet In Tears
By Izza Sofia, 05 Oct 2018
Actor Chris Evans has bid farewell to his role as ‘Captain America’ in the MCU.
Evans has completed his last day of filming for upcoming movie Avengers 4, and said he is “eternally grateful” for having been given the opportunity to play the superhero since its debut in Captain America: The First Avenger.
He tweeted, “Officially wrapped on Avengers 4. It was an emotional day to say the least. Playing this role over the last eight years has been an honor. To everyone in front of the camera, behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful.”
The tweet has garnered emotional replies not only from fans, but also Hollywood celebrities such as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Ryan Reynolds. Johnson tweeted, “What a run you had brother. Congrats on breathing life into such an iconic character. Keep on keepin’ on,” while Reynolds commented, “I’m not crying. I’m weeping. There’s a difference.”
According to the New York Times, Evans hinted at a possible retirement in an interview back in March. He said he might want to alight “the train before [being] pushed off.”
There has been no official word on what would lead to the departure of ‘Captain America’, though there have been rumors that he could die in this latest movie.
Evans’ tweet supports this speculation, which has led to many emotional responses on Twitter. Read some of them below.
