Apple’s new emoji isn’t the only bagel design that’s recently been ridiculed. American bakery-café chain Panera Bread has also been met with such criticism, though the comments here aren’t as digestible.
The brand has brought back its ‘Pink Ribbon Bagel’ for October, which happens to be Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Revenue made from this item will be donated to local breast cancer organizations.
Several stores will hold one-day events that will see 100-percent of sales made from the ribbon-shaped bagels go to partnering nonprofits.
While the campaign was birthed out of goodwill, internet users were distracted by a banner set up by a Cleveland store for the special item.
Instead of illustrating the bagel—which is made with cherry chips, dried cherries, honey, vanilla, and brown sugar—in a more delectable light, the menu item is pictured in an unappetizing manner that might call for a flushing.
“Maybe I need more fiber, but I’ve never folded my poop into a ribbon shape,” joked one social media user.
Funnily enough, the ad was made viral on a subreddit called ‘Crappy Design’.
