The Marvel-DC crossover you were waiting for might be here soon, although it will take on a most unorthodox form.
James Gunn, the fired creative force of Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy (GotG) film franchise, has been picked up by Warner Bros. to write the script for DC Comics’ Suicide Squad sequel.
Industry sources also heard through the grapevine that Gunn might be directing the film, too.
Upon uncovering reports of Gunn’s involvement with the direct rival of Marvel Studios, Dave Bautista, who plays ‘Drax’ in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, tweeted out his interest in a Suicide Squad 2 role.
“Where do I sign up!” the actor and former WWE star exclaimed.
Bautista has been incredibly outspoken about Disney’s termination of Gunn’s contract, which resulted from far-right supporters’ excavations of offensive tweets that the GoTG director had sent out nearly a decade ago.
The actor admitted in an earlier interview, “[T]o be honest with you, I’m not sure if I want to work for Disney.”
