Clever IKEA Ad Mimics Banksy’s Shredding Art Stunt To Promote Its Affordable Rug

Banksy made headlines over the weekend after the anonymous British street artist’s Girl with Balloon painting automatically passed through a shredder, hidden within its frame, moments after it was auctioned off for US$1.4 million.
The amusing art prank has inspired spinoffs by brands and artists from around the world, including IKEA Bulgaria.
Together with creative agency the Smarts,it decided to jump on the “self-shredding” bandwagon in this ad to promote its ‘RORKAR’ rug.
Housed within a gold frame, the rug’s fringe protrudes from the base to mimic Banksy’s stunt. The ad reads, “Masterpiece that everyone can own,” which references the rug’s Лв39.90 (US$24) price tag.
