Spotify, the popular music streaming platform with a drive to quench piracy and compensate creators, turned 10 over the weekend. To date, it has reached 180 million-plus monthly active listeners spanning 65 countries.
To celebrate its anniversary, the app has combed its data to identify its most streamed artists and songs of all time.
Since its debut, Spotify has discovered 2,000 different genres, including ‘Shimmer Pop’, a Swedish twist on indie pop and indietronica, as well as something called ‘British Blues’, which are “the blues… with a British flavor.”
Crowning the list of most played songs ever is, unsurprisingly, Ed Sheeran’s Shape of You, which is followed by Drake’s One Dance and The Chainsmokers and Halsey’s Closer.
The most popular artists in Spotify’s entire history include Drake, Ed Sheeran, Eminem, The Weeknd, and Rihanna.
The Black Eyed Peas’ I Gotta Feeling topped the ranks nine years ago. Feel old yet?
Check out the infographic below to see if your favorite musicians and tracks made the list. Spotify has also compiled a playlist of the decade’s most iconic songs, which you can also have a listen to after the scroll.
