Worlds apart from his past life as a Disney heartthrob, actor Zac Efron will be filling in the shoes of notorious serial killer Ted Bundy in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, a Joe Berlinger-directed biopic of the cold-blooded criminal.
Now, both Efron and the Sundance Institute have teased early glimpses at the actor as the charming but wicked Ted Bundy ahead of the 2019 Sundance Film Festival, which will kick in on 24 January and run until 3 February.
Bundy was known by those who had encountered him to be extremely charismatic and good-looking. These attractive traits, however, were just a mirage, as he had confessed to 30 homicides of young women and girls, though the actual count is believed to be higher.
The thriller imagines the story of Ted Bundy through the eyes of his longtime girlfriend, Elizabeth Kloepfer, who was unaware of his killings until she started to find strange items in his apartment and her house. A police sketch had confirmed her growing suspicions, and she later turned him in. According to Kloepfer, Bundy never hurt her during their relationship.
Judging by the initial images, Efron seems to have captured Bundy’s unfeeling character, empty eyes, and deceptively blank expression to a T. View them below.
