The Infamous ‘Thanos’ Snap That Killed Your Favorite Superheroes Now Has A Name
By Izza Sofia, 07 Dec 2018
Thanos’ infamous ‘snap’ has officially been given a name.
According to Screen Rant, his deadly snap that wiped out half of the population including Marvel’s superheroes is called ‘The Decimation’. The name surfaced thanks to a Marvel’s tie-in book titled Avengers: Infinity War: The Cosmic Quest Volume Two: Aftermath by Brandon T. Snider.
The book features characters from Thor such as Dr. Erik Selvig and Darcy Lewis, and they formed a team of ‘Science Avengers’ to figure out the cause behind the death of the population.
The term ‘The Decimation’ may appear familiar to comic book fans as it actually referred to another event that occurred in the MCU. In the comic book titled House of M, ‘Wanda Maximoff’ casted a spell that resulted in almost all of her mutant powers disappearing.
This act is also called ‘Decimation’, and it appears that the name will hit the big screen soon. While there are no mutants found in the MCU, the disappearance of ‘Black Panther’, ‘Spider-Man’ and other superheroes is a similar circumstance. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the sequel to Avengers: Infinity War will hit theaters on 3 May 2019.
