Elon Musk Proudly Announces LA Tunnel Opening With ‘Stranger Things’-Like Poster
By Izza Sofia, 17 Dec 2018
The Boring Company’s “disturbingly long” hyperloop tunnel, drilled beneath Los Angeles, will be opening its doors on 18 December.
CEO Elon Musk claims that the postponed date, eight days after the original schedule, will be “more than a tunnel opening.” It is set to include “modded but fully road legal autonomous transport cars.” The tunnel is touted to aid the transport of these vehicles, which can travel at 150 miles per hour.
On Saturday, Musk teased his fans with an image reminiscent of Netflix’s popular Stranger Things series. The words “The Boring Company” are displayed at the top of the tweeted poster, complete with “light at the end of the tunnel.”
To add, Musk has built a “watchtower” above this debut tunnel that pays homage to his favorite movie, Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The tower, which is covered in brick veneer, has been dubbed “Medieval Futurism” by the CEO.
