Trump’s White House Fast Food Feast Is Reminiscent Of A Scene From ‘Richie Rich’
By Izza Sofia, 15 Jan 2019
America’s champions of college football, the Clemson Tigers, was invited to the White House on 14 January to celebrate their athletic accomplishments.
Donald Trump hosted the football team and while many might have expected a fancy dinner, Trump decided to put on a spread of fast food, of which the bill was apparently paid by Trump. The spread comprised food items from McDonald’s, Wendy’s and Domino’s. Trump told reporters that he believed the food selections to be that of the players’ favorites.
Images from the dinner that show a spread of burgers, pizzas and fries arranged on silver platters in the dining room have surfaced online. “I like it all. I like it all. It’s all good stuff, great American food. And it’s going to be very interesting to see at the end of this evening how many are left,” Trump said.
Internet users had much to say about the dinner, from the White House staffer lighting candles, to the fancy gravy boats that held the dipping sauce for nuggets. Mashable has likened the scene to one from the 1994 movie Richie Rich, where the main character invites his friends over to his house and impresses them with his personal McDonald’s outlet.
Check out the scene from the movie below.
