2018 saw a rise in realistic-looking computer generated (CG) models, from 19-year-old social media influencer ‘Lil Miquela’—who even produced a music video in collaboration with American record producer Baauer—to the “world’s first” digital supermodel ‘Shudu’ and Balmain’s virtual army.
Japan’s ‘Imma’, made by Tokyo-based CG company ModelingCafe, is next to join the bandwagon. Similar to ‘Lil Miquela’ and ‘Shudu’, ‘Imma’ appears convincingly real upon initial glance.
The virtual model, whose name is a play on the Japanese word “ima” that means “now,” was recently featured on the cover of CGWorld magazine.
On the model’s Instagram @imma.gram, her profile reads, “I am a virtual model. I’m interested in Japanese culture and film, movie. [sic] I want to attract humans to the fashion show.”
