AirPower Anticipated To Debut ‘Later In 2019’, According To Suppliers
By Yoon Sann Wong, 22 Jan 2019
Rumors have been circulating about the potential 2019 release of AirPower—Apple’s wireless charging mat that was introduced to the world in September 2017.
Following an initial report revealing that AirPower had entered mass production on 21 January, comes this follow-up supply chain update from Digitimes stating that AirPower is indeed alive and slated to roll out “later in 2019.”
According to Digitimes’ sources, Lite-On Semiconductor has been transporting GPP bridge rectifiers for use inside the wireless charger for over a year. Lite-On Semiconductor responded to clarify that it does not comment on particular customers and orders.
Only time will tell if Apple’s one-stop charging mat for a “wireless world,” previously slated for a 2018 release, will see the light of day.
