Charlie Sheen blurts out a self-deprecating one-liner in Planters’ Super Bowl spot, inadvertently stealing the limelight from mascot ‘Mr Peanut’.
On Tuesday, American snack company Planters rolled out its first-ever Super Bowl commercial. The action-packed advert shows ‘Mr. Peanut’ going out of his way on his ‘NUTmobile’ to prevent former professional baseball shortstop Alex Rodriguez from munching on kale chips.
‘Mr. Peanut’ and his peanut-shaped vehicle zip by Sheen, who declares, “And people think I’m nuts.”
As you might have observed, the 59-year-old actor doesn’t exactly have a glowing image both in terms of his personal life and career.
“Some may think it’s nuts for me to be in this amazing ad with ‘Mr. Peanut’,” Sheen admits in a press release. “Having been described as salty over the years, I’m genuinely thrilled to be in the mix!”
The 30-second commercial will air during the second quarter of the American football game on Sunday, 3 February. A faux film poster, which you can find below, has also been created to tease Planters’ first-ever Super Bowl appearance.
