When the President calls you one thing, it’s final—you are officially whatever he says you are. The White House, however, begs to differ.
On Wednesday, US president Donald Trump met up with Apple CEO Tim Cook to discuss the impact of technology in education. Possibly the greatest takeaway of their conversation, though, was the fact that POTUS referred to Cook as “Tim Apple.”
Apart from the internet’s inevitable memes, the Apple CEO played along with the gaffe by quietly switching his Twitter display name.
Unfortunately, the White House doesn’t want the blunder to be immortalized, so it edited the meeting’s transcript by inserting a dash in the hilarious “Tim Apple” moniker.
The official transcript reads, “I used to say, ‘Tim, you got to start doing it over here.’ And you really have. I mean, you’ve really put a big investment in our country. We appreciate it very much, Tim—Apple,” as if there was a pause between the two words.
If even Tim Cook has decided to go with the new name, why not just let things be?
