Inside ‘Game Of Thrones’ Reveals The Efforts To Create Its Elaborate Prosthetics
By Yoon Sann Wong, 12 Mar 2019
The final season of Game of Thrones is just around the corner and fans are eagerly waiting for what could be the biggest battle yet.
In anticipation of the season’s 14 April debut, the official ‘GameofThrones’ YouTube channel released a behind-the-scenes video that honors all the hard work its prosthetics team has put in.
Prosthetics designer Barrie Gower speaks about how the team brings the series’ incredible realm to life for the final season in this ‘Story in Prosthetics’.
“Just an average prosthetics makeup, we usually say, is about 4 to 6 weeks to build. We have so many patient actors who sit in our chair for like four or six or eight hours at a time,” Gower explains.
“So by the time we usually step on set to do a rehearsal, we’ve already pretty much done a full day’s work.”
“The de-wig in the evening can take a good hour, you know, or two hours. People are quite unaware of the length of time and the process that goes into these things.”
