Chinese smartphone maker OPPO has secretly refreshed its logo, but the makeover could actually take away its edge.
Spotted by GizmoChina, the new branding is currently visible on the company’s Chinese website, but hasn’t rolled out onto its international websites. It’s still unclear if the redesign is restricted to OPPO’s home nation.
Perhaps for legibility purposes, the brand has sealed up the open counters of its letter ‘p’, as well as rounded out its characters. Each letter is now also of equal thickness.
While the overall aesthetic seems cleaner, fans have criticized the logomark for possibly losing its personality.
Check out both old and new OPPO logos below. Do you think the oppo-turnity to redesign was well-seized?
