Donald Trump Unwittingly Becomes Face Of Book Club To Encourage People To Read
By Izza Sofia, 24 Mar 2019
In an unconventional effort to boost more interest in reading among youths and young adults, especially millennials, The Wild Detectives bookstore decided to join forces with marketing agency Dieste to create ‘The Donald Book Club’.
Most millennials only consume short content, which makes Donald Trump’s Twitter account possibly one of the most “influential source of misinformation.” To educate his large follower base, ‘The Donald Book Club’ has been set up to respond to Trump’s thoughts and opinions with contextualized books for additional insights on the topics touched on by the president.
‘The Donald Book Club’ hopes the books will broaden perspectives and remind audiences about the importance of reading up before tweeting.
Some texts that have been recommended include Asking for it by Louise O’Neill, in response to Trump’s comments about sexual harassment, and 1984 by George Orwell, which aims to educate about fake news.
