What if blockbusters were made bigger than they already are?
Mexico-based illustrator Carlos Dattoli takes your favorite superheroes… and supersizes them to create an amusing series he calls ‘Fat Heroes’.
Here, pop culture icons originally portrayed as ultra-ripped—such as the stars from the Marvel cinematic universe, characters of Dragon Ball, and the Power Rangers—have been given rotund silhouettes and more pronounced bellies.
The ‘Fat Heroes’ series began about four years ago. Since then, the concept artist’s illustration style has evolved to appear more realistic with keen interpretations of lighting that accentuate the characters’ “fat.”
What an amazing way to celebrate larger-than-life big shots. Check out some illustrations from the series below, and visit Carlos Dattoli’s portfolio, ArtStation profile, and Instagram, where he explores alternate lives for pop culture characters.
